Education

The Education Program at Bridge House offers its members an opportunity to continue or complete their educational goals. We utilize the resources of the Clubhouse and make existing community resources more accessible to our members.

We also provide:

  • Individual and group support with academic goals
  • Assistance in setting academic goals
  • Access to in-house educational software designed to improve basic remedial skills
  • Assistance with college admissions and financial aid
  • Small scholarships based on each individual's need and eligibility
  • Assistance with GED and Adult Education through in-house computer software
  • Referrals to other community educational opportunities, including supported education and GED programs
  • Assistance with admission to advanced vocational training
  • Computer skill development
  • Peer mentoring
  • Tutoring

Currently there are fifteen members enrolled at Housatonic, one member at Southern CT State University, one member at Naugatuck Valley Community College, and one member at Norwalk Community College. There are also four members enrolled at the Mercy Learning Center, three at the Recovery University and three attending the Adult Learning Center.

  • During Fiscal Year 2011, 66 members of Bridge House returned to schools.
