The First 25 Years
Bridge House opened its doors in 1986 as a welcoming place for persons with psychiatric disabilities to come, receive help, and focus on recovery. Since then, it has been serving as a transition from institutional care to independent living by providing a positive, encouraging environment so that its members can become independent, active and productive in society.
Through the years, Bridge House has enrolled over 2,600 members with almost 50% of its members returning back to school or the work environment. That's quite a success rate. And by providing educational, vocational and social opportunities, Bridge House continues to help its members build pride and self-confidence.
Since its inception, Bridge House has grown from a young organization with a budget of $50,000 and a staff of two, to a thriving program of almost $2 million dollars with a staff of 24. We look forward to many more years serving the community.
